Councils are installing electric vehicle charging points across Scotland to support the transition to electric vehicles. This data shows how many chargers exist, how much they are used, and what they cost.

Your local council’s roads or transport department. Find your council on the Commissioner’s directory of Scottish public authorities. You can also send your request through WhatDoTheyKnow, which publishes responses online.

Tips#

  • This is environmental information, so it falls under the EIR rather than FOISA. You do not need to give a reason for your request.
  • ChargePlace Scotland operates many publicly funded chargers. If your council’s chargers are managed through this network, you may also want to submit a request to Transport Scotland.
  • Comparing revenue against cost shows whether the network is self-sustaining or requires ongoing public subsidy.
